Improving lives with colour
I'm Dawn Scott and I'm a Colour Specialist, Interior Design Consultant, Advisor & Educator with over 20 year’s professional industry experience.
I have a wealth of experience and expertise in leveraging the transformative power of colour. I work closely with businesses and individuals, including architects, specifiers & designers, plus professional bodies, and education establishments to provide insights, build confidence and create environments where the end users’ needs are fully understood and integrated to change and improve lives.
As the world becomes a more stressful place, there is a growing need for a human-centred approach to design. Mainstream interior design is only focused on the aesthetics of the space, but of equal (if not more) importance are the people occupying the space. By integrating more natural aspects into our day-to-day existence, and by rekindling our innate connections to nature, our environments can become somewhere to relax, regenerate, and replenish ourselves, so we can lead more balanced and fulfilled lives.
I am extremely passionate about inclusive design. I believe that specific design features can make public places more inclusive for everyone by reducing the likelihood of sensory overload, anxiety, or distress, ideal for those who are neurodivergent i.e. Autistic, ADHD etc, or who have Dementia or a visual impairment.
Colour is a powerful tool that can have a psychological and emotional effect on people and can be used to influence behaviour. I work beyond pure design aesthetics with the scientific principles of Colour Psychology, Colour Theory, Biophilic Design and Neuroaesthetics, to support physical, mental, emotional health and wellbeing. This can be for a wide range of residential and commercial sectors including education, healthcare, workplaces, retail, and leisure.
I am always open to opportunities where I can share my knowledge and expertise for the benefit of others, so please get in touch.
On social media channels I am known as the Colour Guru and use the hashtag #ColourGuru when posting, so you can easily search for my content using that. Alternatively, click on the links at the top or bottom of the page to be taken directly to my social media profiles or to send an email to me.
